Oooooo child, how I loved this book. The rural Australian cop trope is a massive favourite of mine and Mia Terry has done it such justice. Closeted country cop Luke is a gorgeous character struggling with his unwanted attraction to Jai, the new radiologist in from Sydney. Jai is so bright and warmly written you can’t help but love him. Really a great story.⁣

I liked this book as much as I liked the first, however it was a bit harder to read due to a recent brutal assault being a main plot point. Sometimes the country boy makes a go of city life story comes across as a bit tired but I found this story fresh and interesting. Billy is a delight as the urban world opens to him and slightly jaded Kris is likeable while he tries not to fall for his roommate. Enjoyable second book!⁣

I have to admit I was most worried about reading this one, but I’m not really sure why. I was glad to discover my worries were unfounded and actually this is my favourite of the series. Ollie and Rhys are perfect. Both and complex and interesting characters that I was immediately in love with. Paired with the beautiful Byron Bay setting it was a joy to read.⁣
